Justin O’Brien, M.D. is a psychiatrist who earned his medical degree and completed his psychiatry residency at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He approaches patient care with a philosophy that blends evidence-based medicine, compassion, curiosity, and genuine care. Dr. O’Brien believes that the most meaningful outcomes arise when treatment is built on a partnership between physician and patient, tailored to meet each individual’s unique goals and needs.
Before beginning his medical career, Dr. O’Brien proudly served eight years in the United States Army as a medic, completing deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan. His time in service provided not only clinical training in urgent, high-pressure environments but also a deep understanding of resilience, empathy, and the human capacity to heal. These formative experiences continue to inform his practice, allowing him to connect with patients who face challenges ranging from trauma and stress to complex mental health conditions.
For more than a decade, Dr. O’Brien has called the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex home. He values building long-term relationships with patients in the community and strives to create a safe, collaborative environment where every patient feels seen and supported.
Outside of medicine, Dr. O’Brien enjoys time with his family and friends, often sharing stories about his energetic puppy, Moose. Whether discussing treatment strategies in the clinic or talking about the latest antics of his four-legged companion, Dr. O’Brien brings a balance of professionalism, warmth, and relatability to his work.
