Post-PRP Injection Instructions

After Your Procedure

Discharge Instructions

  • You may resume your normal diet.
  • Do not engage in any strenuous activity.
  • Do not take a bath or submerge the injection site; you may shower.
  • Apply ice to the injection sites (4 times per day for 3 days).
  • Any bandages may be removed in the evening before going to bed.
  • DO NOT operate any vehicle or machinery for 24 hours.
  • Refrain from heavy lifting for 24 hours.
  • Resume all medications.
  • DO NOT take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for at least 2 weeks after the procedure.
  • NSAIDs include:
    • Aspirin,
    • Ibuprofen and
    • Naproxen

At Home

  • You may have mild discomfort that lasts 2–3 days once the local anesthetic wears off.
  • If discomfort occurs, you may apply ice to the area 3–4 times a day for 30 minutes. Avoid using heat.
  • It can take 2–6 weeks for the injection to take effect.
